To clarify yesterday's rather clumsy incompleteness, day three-hundred and forty-nine is definitely and completely complete. Brief, yes. Incomplete, no. Of course, this update will make zero sense if you did not read yesterday's entry until after the minor grammatical adjustment was made. Quite amazing how one seemingly insignificant alteration can influence the whole, giving proof that the devil is certainly within the microscopic details.
Moving on.
The investigation has shifted gears somewhat now that authorities have good reason to believe the scene to have some form of ceremonial significance. The mirror shattered yet deliberately placed within the center of the room and a song set to repeat serving as primary clues. It also dawned on the crime scene specialists that, despite the large quantities of blood dispersed around the room with reckless abandon, the pieces of this deliberately positioned mirror do not have so much as one drop on them. The significant revelation is that the broken mirror is now thought to have been placed after the crime had occurred, not before or during. Although much blood has been lost by both men, proven within the blood analysis lab, one of them seems to have been in well enough health to achieve this deliberate act prior to disappearing. This is the man they are now most interested in finding, as he is likely the murderer.
But which man?
Delving further into the mystery of these two potential villains and/or victims, some seemingly insignificant details were revealed whilst interviewing their colleagues, those same colleagues that left for the company holiday party only to return to find both men gone and a grotesque crime scene in their stead.
One interrogated coworker revealed to investigators that both men had not been feeling well as of late. This fact seemed fairly miniscule at the time, neither man was violently ill or even missed work as a result of their illnesses. Just your average, run of the mill drowsy symptoms. Nothing overly alarming, but both men complaining of similar symptoms, both being investigated for a violent crime soon thereafter and both men now completely missing does not seem to be the stuff of coincidence.
Another interrogated coworker informed investigators that, although one of the men in question had made a habit of wearing long sleeves lately, likely due to the late season climate shift, she had caught a glimpse of his arm, noting that it seemed abnormally bruised and scabbed. When pressed for more information about this small detail, she could not recall much else, but it seemed to coincide with the timing of her missing coworker disclosing that he was not feeling well.
Investigators conclude that, although it may not have much if any influence on this particular crime and the motives that brought it about, drugs may be involved on at least some level.
The interrogated colleague recalled one last particular detail regarding her coworker's illness, which may or may not be of any relevance. He had indicated to her that this illness was the specific reason for not participating in the company endorsed blood donation program, something he had willingly and anxiously done on a regular basis in the past. Not necessarily damning information, but it seems to investigators that many of these devilishly small details, relatively irrelevant taken on their own merit, form a broader more meaningful image once pieced together.
Not unlike pieces of a shattered mirror.
