365 Days of Jazz Hands - Day 258

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 15th, 2013

Today we shall taste the flavor of life.

And rotisserie style roasted pork that has been sitting overnight, absorbing a homemade dry rub and influenced with ambitious amounts of hand jazzings.

Before the several hours of spinning around a spit occurs, coffee and reflection.  Chores and discipline.  Installations of things within the House of Ego that will not install successfully.

And then...

Sports on the television, lager in the hand, and rotisserie style roasted pork that has been sitting overnight, absorbing a homemade dry rub and influenced with ambitious amounts of hand jazzings, spinning around a spit for several hours, continuously basted and mopped with my own, personal household blend of garliconionbourbonsyrup™.

I had a mile long checklist of things to accomplish this weekend, some of them worked out according to the plan, some were never attempted, some merely crossed my mind, complete with emotional preparations for the workload ahead, but those plans quickly became derailed due to a bevy of unexpected circumstances that I just did not see coming at all (that is why they were "unexpected").

As it turns out, John Lennon was right after all.  Life happens, regardless of the premeditated checklists in our brains.

Living in the balance of the reasonably expected and the confounding turn of events that we tend to get blindsided with from time to time, makes for an interesting journey.

What would life be without its fair share of twists, turns and unfamiliar flavors?

Today's Jazz Hands reward their taste buds.

Day two-hundred and fifty-eight complete.

UPDATE:  Plans have changed.  Coffee and reflection to be followed by boating due to an unforeseen opportunity to claim what little freedom remains from the weekend...and then the sports on the tube, lager in the hand and rotisserie on the spit.  I guess today's responsibilities will wait for another day.
