365 Days of Jazz Hands - Day 313

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9th, 2013

As we prepare a future where life expectancy is extending due to amazing drugs and salty foods, there is evidence that the world is adjusting to reflect this unprecedented, expedited shift.  An abundance of glass is on the horizon...which translates to approximately three miles away from where we are now.

Glass has actually been around much longer than plastic, so it seems we're merely adhering to a larger pattern in the sequence of existence.  Glass can survive generations, yet it's an excessively delicate material.

I must acknowledge the contradiction from the last two day's worth of posts about plastics and disposability.  Plastics are manufactured to last forever.  They do not perish or decompose...yet the inexpensive nature of the products they create make it very easy for us to discard without second thought...there is a difference, you see, between disposability and a brief existence.  When future civilizations dig up the bones of today they will find petrified skeletons surrounded by pieces of plastic and this will likely confuse the shit out of them.

I'm not suggesting that boobs should be made of glass.  That would be a little strange.

As our life expectancies expand, we continue to strive to adjust our world accordingly.  Maybe there is a less disposable future for us all...unfortunately this is our way to merely postpone the inevitable.

It's no mistake that the future world we're building around us is extremely fragile, just like its engineers.  Perhaps its reflective properties will give us ample opportunity to see ourselves for what we really are.

Today's Jazz Hands are shatterproof.

Day three-hundred and thirteen complete.
